Kathleen m. king
K.M. King has been passionate about reading since the day she got off the school bus and walked into her first-grade classroom in a quiet town in south-central Pennsylvania. When Santa brought her a small, pink diary with a tiny gold lock and key several years later, she discovered her second passion–writing. The habit of recording the events of the day and later, in junior high, inventing stories of her own, ignited a love of words and writing that has never diminished.
Her journey to become a published author has taken her through stints as a member of the Army (Third Armored Division, Frankfurt Germany); a legal secretary in her county’s largest law firm; a freelance journalist and editor for her community newspaper; and a junior high school English and history teacher. For nearly twenty-five years she served as a community educator and training director for the local Office of Behavioral Health/Intellectual Disabilities/Early Intervention. Her next venture was creating her own business, The Power of Possibilities, to offer individual and group coaching, staff development, management training, and personal growth workshops.
During all those years, as she and her husband Dana raised two children, she wrote short stories, poetry, three self-development workbooks and seven novels. She has won several awards: a first, second and honorable mention in short story contests sponsored by her regional Public Television station; a Keystone Press Award for a feature article; and national awards for annual reports and publications in the disabilities field.
Her novel, The Bomber Jacket, began germinating in her mind when she and her husband visited Drem Aerodrome near Edinburgh, Scotland in 2004. It was well underway when they returned to Scotland for further research in 2011 with their oldest granddaughter, Zoe, whose ideas and questions helped shape the main character.
In addition to time spent writing, she belongs to two book clubs, including one focused on Jane Austen, plays scrabble with a monthly meet-up group, takes abstract art lessons, hangs out with her four sisters, and takes “magical mystery tours” with close friends. She is an avid K-Pop fan girl (luv BTS) and enjoys K-dramas so much that she writes a blog about them: kdramaforlife.com.
K.M. King believes that Kdrama is much more than entertainment–it’s a visual playbook for life. Dive into her blogs to discover how Kdrama offers clear instruction on personal relationships, deep wisdom for coping with life’s heart-wrenching challenges, and personal insights on living with hope in a world full of despair.
